ARE YOU ALREADY AWARE OF OUR SOCIAL AND SUSTAINABILITY ACTIONS?

We are committed to Intermodal South America having a positive impact on people and the planet. We aim to assist the logistics community in enhancing their sustainability efforts by providing access to networks and knowledge necessary to tackle future challenges.

Sustainability at Intermodal South America

Intermodal South America recognizes the importance of sustainability in its activities. It is the largest logistics, intralogistics, technology, cargo transportation, and foreign trade event in the Americas. We are committed to sustainability, both now and in the future. This reflects our responsibility to contribute to a world that is environmentally responsible, socially just, and economically viable.

The transportation sector faces significant sustainability challenges due to its intensive movement, such as carbon emissions associated with logistics. However, we view these challenges as opportunities to innovate, seek efficient solutions, and promote more sustainable practices.

Intermodal aims to provide a platform for discussing and addressing logistics challenges, inspiring participants to adopt sustainable practices in their operations. By collaborating during events, we aim to enhance a transformative movement in the industry, collectively constructing a sustainable future. We need the commitment of every participant not only to address current challenges but also to collectively build a sustainable future for logistics.

As part of our commitment, we focus on three sustainability pillars.

.

Goal 4: Ensure that education is inclusive and equitable, and promote opportunities for lifelong learning for all.
Increase the number of individuals with relevant technical and vocational skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship, both among youth and adults.
Goal 7: Ensure reliable, sustainable, modern, and affordable access to energy for everyone.
Expand infrastructure and modernize technology to provide modern and sustainable energy services for all in developing countries
Goal 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological modernization, and innovation.
Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation.
Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological modernization, and innovation.
Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
Reduce global per capita food waste at retail and consumer levels, and minimize food losses throughout production and supply chains.
Goal 17: Enhance the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
Mobilize knowledge, expertise, technology, and financial resources to strengthen the global partnership for sustainable development. To encourage and promote effective partnerships between public, private, and civil society sectors, it is important to learn from the resource mobilization strategies of these partnerships
  • Better Stands Program: raising awareness among our exhibitors and assembly companies to use reusable stands, thereby reducing waste generation;
  • Reduction of printed materials, with those being FSC certified;
  • Interactive map provided on the Intermodal Platform, replacing the printed pocket map;
  • Utilization of carpet made from recycled PET, with 80% reused from previous events. Post-event waste is sent for recycling and transformed into new products;
  • Use of LED lighting in the pavilion and Informa spaces, and optimization of air conditioning usage to decrease energy consumption;
  • Selective waste collection and environmentally responsible disposal of all event-generated waste;
  • Options for vegan and vegetarian food in event restaurants and snack bars;
  • At the event's exit, a container is provided for the conscious disposal of credentials that will be reused at future events.
  • Motorized chairs are available for accessibility at the event;
  • Hiring of People with Disabilities (PwD) in partnership with the PAE program (Programa de Atendente Eficientes);
  • Provide support for the Safrater, Instituto Jô Clemente, and CAMPS Santos (Centro de Aprendizagem e Mobilização Profissional e Social) initiatives during the event.

Sustainability Highlights

.

We emphasize that Intermodal addresses topics related to sustainability, promoting relevant content at congresses and arenas open to the event's audience.

- Here are some highlights from 2024:

Innovation in ports, decarbonization of transport, AI in foreign trade logistics, ESG, railway operation, strategic connections in agribusiness, security in Brazilian logistics and female leadership.

In addition to cases of productive journey and multimodal expansion, collaborative & humanitarian logistics and bottlenecks in Brazilian agribusiness highlight applied practices. Check out the full schedule at: https://www.intermodal.com.br/pt/interlog-summit.html#Programacao

On the Intermodal Digital content channel, we published 35 materials on ESG, which accounted for 17% of the content made available in 2023. Stay on top of the main topics: https://digital.intermodal.com.br/sustentabilidade

By exploring these themes, Intermodal is driving the logistics industry towards more sustainable practices. This approach shows a commitment not only to the present but also to future generations' legacy.

Intermodal South America is focused on engaging young people in the workforce through professional learning. The CAMPS - Center for Professional and Social Learning and Mobilization plays a crucial role in facilitating the entry of these new professionals into the logistics sector.

Rosângela Barreiro, the Communication Coordinator of CAMPS Santos, emphasized the significance of CAMPS' involvement in Intermodal. Intermodal is crucial because it connects CAMPS to partner companies, some of which are already headquartered in Santos, allowing for even closer collaboration. The more partner companies, the more we insert young people into the market and participation in Intermodal is fundamental for us." To read more, visit the website: https://www.camps.org.br/

Visit the Camp Santos booth (E153) during Intermodal 2024 to learn more about their work and how you can support them.

The Instituto Jo Clemente (IJC) works on the prevention and promotion of health for people with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and rare diseases.

Exhibitors and visitors can avoid the disposal of products under temporary admission through the partnership with IJC at booth M-110.

  • We created the interactive map, available on the Intermodal Platform, to replace the pocket map and eliminate the need for printing and paper use;
  • After the event, a designated area will be provided for the proper disposal of credentials.
