We are committed to Intermodal South America having a positive impact on people and the planet. We want to play a key role in helping the entire logistics community improve its sustainability, connecting people to the networks and knowledge they need to help solve the big challenges of the future.

SUSTAINABILITY ACTIONS
Sustainability at Intermodal South America

Intermodal South America recognizes the importance of sustainability in its activities. It is the largest logistics, intralogistics, technology, cargo transportation, and foreign trade event in the Americas. We are committed to sustainability, both now and in the future. This reflects our responsibility to contribute to a world that is environmentally responsible, socially just, and economically viable.
The transportation sector faces significant sustainability challenges due to its intensive movement, such as carbon emissions associated with logistics. However, we view these challenges as opportunities to innovate, seek efficient solutions, and promote more sustainable practices.
Intermodal aims to provide a platform for discussing and addressing logistics challenges, inspiring participants to adopt sustainable practices in their operations. By collaborating during events, we aim to enhance a transformative movement in the industry, collectively constructing a sustainable future. We need the commitment of every participant not only to address current challenges but also to collectively build a sustainable future for logistics.
As part of our commitment, we focus on three sustainability pillars.

1- Inspiring sustainability
Embed sustainability into our brand to inspire our sector to be more sustainable, promoting the achievement of the UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals):

Goal 4: Ensure that education is inclusive and equitable, and promote opportunities for lifelong learning for all.
Increase the number of individuals with relevant technical and vocational skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship, both among youth and adults.

Goal 7: Ensure reliable, sustainable, modern, and affordable access to energy for everyone.
Expand infrastructure and modernize technology to provide modern and sustainable energy services for all in developing countries

Goal 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological modernization, and innovation.

Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation.
Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological modernization, and innovation.

Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
Reduce global per capita food waste at retail and consumer levels, and minimize food losses throughout production and supply chains.
Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

Goal 17: Enhance the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
2- Environmental Responsibility
Our goal is to become carbon neutral and reduce waste by 50% by 2025. We also aim to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint. This is a steppingstone towards achieving zero waste and zero net carbon by 2030 or earlier:

- Better Stands Program: raising awareness among our exhibitors and assembly companies to use reusable stands, thereby reducing waste generation;
- Reduction of printed materials, with those being FSC certified;
- Interactive map provided on the Intermodal Platform, replacing the printed pocket map;
- Totems with QR Codes available in the pavilion to facilitate access to event information;
- Carpets made from recycled PET and PP, some of which were reused from previous events, were used. After the event, the carpet will be reused in subsequent events or recycled and transformed into new products;
- Use of LED lighting in the pavilion and Informa spaces, and optimization of air conditioning usage to decrease energy consumption;
- Selective waste collection and environmentally responsible disposal of all event-generated waste;
- Inclusive dining options, with vegetarian and vegan alternatives available at the event's restaurants and snack bars;
- Use of locally sourced foods and seasonal ingredients.
- At the event's exit, a container is provided for the conscious disposal of credentials that will be reused at future events.
- Motorized chairs are available for accessibility at the event;
- Support for deaf truck drivers through our partnership with Caminhoneiros Surdos do Brasil (CSB);
- Awareness campaign about Autism as part of the "Blue April" initiative.
- Hiring of People with Disabilities (PwD) in partnership with the PAE program (Programa de Atendente Eficientes);
- Employment opportunities for senior professionals.
- All food collected through the charity ticket will be donated to Safrater.

We want everyone to feel a sense of belonging, and for our communities to feel inspired and benefit from the diverse identities, innovations, and ideas we present at Intermodal South America.
We achieve this through:
- Hiring People with Disabilities (PwD) in partnership with the PAE program (Efficient Attendant Program);
- Our commitment to listening to a wide variety of speakers;
Additionally, we support and promote the following manifestos:
> Manifesto Caminhoneiros Surdos do Brasil – CSB (Brazilian Deaf Truckers Manifesto)
The Brazilian Deaf Truckers – CSB was created to transform the reality of deaf individuals in the transportation sector. Since November 2020, the movement has worked to overcome challenges related to obtaining a driver’s license and entering the job market.
The first major achievement came in 2021 with the presentation of PL 2634/21 by Senator Romário (PL/RJ), proposing driver’s licensing in all categories for deaf and hearing-impaired individuals.
Today, CSB is nationally recognized, with the support of associations, City Councils, companies, and advocates. The movement remains mobilized to ensure greater accessibility in traffic and licensing processes.
We want to make a positive impact on our local community. In addition to boosting the economy of our host city, we also seek to promote real social and environmental change. Here’s how we’re doing it: We have now also joined the “solidarity ticket” initiative—an effort that further reinforces our social commitment. Through this initiative, all food collected will be donated to Safrater, expanding support for its programs and benefiting even more people.
We are supporting Safrater, an initiative dedicated to promoting socio-educational programs, with a focus on welcoming and the holistic development of individuals and their families.
The institution is grounded in transformative knowledge, offering the means and opportunities for autonomy, as well as training for the full exercise of citizenship and fraternity.

Better Stands
Created by Informa Markets in 2019, Better Stands is a global program aimed at eliminating stand waste.
To achieve this, we encourage exhibitors and stand builders to replace disposable (single use) stands with reusable ones, significantly reducing environmental impact.
Why Join Better Stands?
Disposable stands account for more than 60% of the waste generated at events, causing significant environmental problems. Better Stands was created to address this issue, aiming to transform events into examples of sustainability and safety.
